Tenant Evictions

Following up on my post yesterday about our legal system, I note today’s letter to the Toronto Star editor by NDP MPP Paul Ferreira in which he writes: “In 2003, Premier Dalton McGuinty was elected promising real protection for tenants who had seen their rights stripped away during the Harris-Eves government years. Three-and-a-half years later, the Liberal government has largely failed tenants with eviction notices at a record high. Rent control is still a thing of the past and tenants are still being taken advantage of by unscrupulous landlords who fail to maintain their properties.”

One Response to “Tenant Evictions”

  1. Howard Says:

The NDP’s Paul Ferriera wants to raise rents on all tenants no matter how poor with a new tax scheme disguised as licensing!

This new tax would bring in tens of millions of dollars in new money to the government out of the pockets of tenants who are usually tenants because they don’t have the income of property owners.

I wonder how many poor tenants will support the NDP over this?
